Exquisite monochrome color-glazed porcelain gaiwan made by Rushi Studio in Jingdezhen, China.

Rushi Studio is known for formulating its own monochrome colored glazes, using more than ten kinds of natural ore, copper and cobalt, combined in different compositions.

Each gaiwan and tea cup is hand thrown on the potter’s wheel. The glazes are applied by hand to the ceramic body both on the interior and exterior, and fired in the kiln at high temperatures exceeding 1300°C.

The high temperature firing creates beautiful vivid colors with a piercing clarity, resembling natural gemstones. The porcelain is thin, delicate and have a beautiful translucency when placed under light.

Their gaiwans are elegant and easy to use, it is the perfect size for brewing tea. The wider rim makes it easy to hold and control in the hands. The white porcelain in the interior makes it ideal for watching and admiring tea leaves as they unfurl in the water during each steep.
