Traditional Charcoal Roasted Green 2020
March 20, 2020
A very rare regional green tea from Fuding, Fujian. The tea leaves are harvested from the Fuding Dabai varietal, consisting of only one bud and one leaf, and the first pick of the season. The tea leaves are traditionally roasted over charcoal at low temperatures for more than three hours, requiring the tea master to “flip” the leaves every three minutes during the roasting process. The long and slow roasting process produces a tea that is “warming”.
It is an exquisite and delicious green tea. On the nose, the tea is sweet, nutty and full of umami. On the palate, it has notes of fresh jujube dates, alfalfa sprouts, guava and honeysuckle.
