Coral Green Pitcher
A simple, classic and minimal pitcher with a delicate curved spout that offers precise and dripless pours. It has a unique coral green glaze on the outside, and a delicate, soft, pale-blue-grey glaze on the inside with subtle crazing and tiny scattered freckles that arise from the iron rich clay body.
⌀: 2⅝" top
⌀: 1⅞" bottom
Please note that as each pitcher is made by hand, they are slightly different in size, shape and tone of the glaze. Some parts of the glaze might have colorations that is darker than the rest of the glaze due to interactions between the clay body and glaze. The actual item you receive might have slight variations to the product photographed.
. . .
This pitcher is made by Wang Xinghua, a young ceramicist from Jingdezhen, China.
His handcrafted ceramics are rooted in daily life: simple, plain, rustic. Yet, the meticulous efforts involved in making each one results in a final product that exudes warmth, character, and a sense of individuality that is difficult to articulate but touches the heart.
We have been using his gaiwans, pitchers and tea cups at our tea bar from the beginning and our love and appreciation for them have grown profoundly.
This is one of 10 serving pitchers that we commissioned him to create for us in Spring 2020.
He throws the pitchers on the potter’s wheel by hand from his own special formulation of Jingdezhen clay and porcelain clay. After bisque firing at 800°C, he applies his own glazes by hand. The cups are then reduction-fired at 1300°C.
