Imperial White in Red Mandarin
The red mandarin peels are from Tianma Village of Xinhui, Guangdong, the most distinguished region for the best orange peels. The red mandarin peels are more ripened than the green mandarin, hence the sweeter and milder flavour.
The tea inside is a 2015 Imperial Shou Mei from Taimu Mountain in Fuding, Fujian. The Imperial Shou Mei is steamed at low temperatures and placed inside each whole red mandarin peel. They are then placed outdoors on bamboo mats to be dried naturally for 3-5 days, followed by slow-roasting over charcoal.
This is a delicious tea - very sweet and mellow, balanced with notes of the ripened orange peel and the earthy notes from the Shou Mei.
