Alishan High Mountain
阿里山高山乌龙
Harvest
May 2024
Origin
Alishan, Taiwan
This oolong is from a small, high altitude tea farm in the towering Alishan Mountain range in Taiwan. The varietal is indigenous to the area, and favours the cool climate of the mountains. The high altitude of the farm means the tea trees are covered in cloud and mist all year round, producing a tea that is vibrant, full bodied and sweet.
The spring harvest from 2024 is a deep and complex tea without any aging. It smells beautiful in the gaiwan, with some subtle perfumy musky. Its first infusions impart a round, weighty feeling on the palate. As soon as the tea is swallowed, its refined sweetness and intricate floral notes fill our palate moving from the back to the front of the mouth. There is a gentle drying sensation in the lingering aftertaste that allows us to taste in even more details.
The integrated profile of this elegant oolong reminds us of lilies and rainwater.
