Tea Cup II
This tea cup crafted by Hidekazu Nakamura is a part of a small collection of ceramics he made for our shop in November 2025, at his studio in Tsuroka, Yamagata.
Matte, marked, and a poetic investigation of balance without evenness — this striking, gun-metal tea cup feels like an appeal to gravity, although it is much lighter than it looks.
The spiral in the bottom of it reminds us of the motion that made it; a gesture that will be continued every time this tea cup is used.
** Please note that, as each chawan is made by hand and naturally fired, they differ slightly in size, shape, colorations, and tone. The actual item you receive may have slight variations to the one photographed; these variations are an intentional part of this collection.
