Wang Xinghua’s handcrafted ceramics are rooted in daily life: simple, plain, rustic. Yet, the meticulous efforts involved in making each one results in a final product that exudes warmth, character, and a sense of individuality that is difficult to articulate but touches the heart.

We commissioned him to make a collection of plates for us back in October 2019. We asked for plates that not only looked beautiful, but are durable and suitable for daily use as well. About three months later, we received word from him that the plates were ready. As we opened the carefully packaged plates when they arrived in February, we were astounded. Every single one of the 40 plates are one-of-a-kind, unique with their own personality. Each one possesses a warmth and charm that reflects the idiosyncrasies of its creator.

Each one was made by hand in every step of the process. They all have an elegant presence with their organic form and colors. They are simply beautiful to look at, to contemplate on. They are also an absolute pleasure to use daily; each one is a conversation piece.
