Taste of the Mountain

Harvest

Origin
Jinggu, Yunnan

This pu erh comes from the old-growth forests 8 kms away from Mr. Tang's  tea farm in Jinggu, Yunnan. The forest here is vibrant and intact, and its trees grow strong and healthy.

The trees for this pu erh are between 200 to 400 years old. They are wild arbor tea trees that grow in the forest unattended. The leaves are harvested only once a year, meaning that the energy of the trees and their roots remains concentrated in these spring leaves.

Wild arbor trees, especially of this age, yield complex, deep and refined teas. Taste of the Mountain has a particularly penetrating strength: it carries the vibrant energy of its forest with it, and we can imagine how deep into the ground the  roots of these trees must go as we follow this pu’erh’s complexity through many infusions. It is enduring in both its lingering taste, and the energy it brings us.

We would drink this pu’erh when we wanted to journey deep into the roots, and the wisdom, of ancient trees. Observing what they have to offer us today brings a different consideration, or gift with it, every time. It is an event, drinking a tea like this – one to be savoured, noticed, and revisited.
