Mountains and Beyond
Harvest
April 2020
Origin
Jinggu, Yunnan
Mountains and Beyond comes from the old-growth forests 8 kms away from Mr. Tang's tea farm in Jinggu, Yunnan. The forest here is vibrant and intact, and its trees grow strong and healthy.
The wild arbor pu’erh trees that grow here are between 150 to 200 years old. Out of respect, their leaves are only harvested once a year, by Mr. Tang, and otherwise they grow unattended. As such, it is understood that the energy of the tree and its root system will be extra concentrated in the leaves of this single Spring harvest.
We detect this concentration in the mouth: the tea is direct and clear, with a long and sweet aftertaste. The integrity of both the environment it comes from, and the way it was handled, result in a very smooth and intriguing tea, in which we find the energy of the old growth forest lasting throughout many infusions.
This pu’erh places us amongst the mountains: it is a transportive tea, that seems to offer a panoramic view of the mountain peaks, and all of the perspective that accompanies such vistas. We feel that it is aptly named.
