Laoshan Black 2020 First Harvest

May 10, 2020

Qingdao, Shandong

This is the First Harvest of our staple Laoshan Black, the leaves were harvested on May 10, 2020. The leaves are small and tender, and the flavors and aromas are accentuated being the first flush of the season.

The Laoshan Black is a beautiful tea from the small family tea farm of our good friend Mr. Tang. The tiny tea gardens are nestled between the ocean and mountain, overlooking the Yellow Sea to the East and facing the magnificent cliffs of Mount Lao on the West. Qingdao is located in northern China where temperatures are lower. This allows the tea leaves to grow slower, yielding a richer black tea.

It is a remarkably delicious black tea, with intense aromatics of dark chocolate from the dry leaves, a smooth silky texture and a long finish. On the palate, it is rich, sweet and naturally creamy with notes of milk chocolate, caramel, and hot cocoa.
