Four Seasons Jade
轻焙四季春冬茶
Harvest
October 2023
Origin
Nantou, Taiwan
Four Seasons Jade is a favoured local varietal of tea from Nantou in central Taiwan. It was first propagated by the tea farmers of Muzha, a traditional tea region close to Taipei.
Our Four Seasons Jade has been crafted by tea master Li Qifeng, a native of Nantou, Taiwan, who has over two decades of experience crafting Taiwanese oolong. Li’s grandfather, Li Shilin, was hailed as one of Taiwan’s pioneering tea farmers in the 1960’s and his family has been crafting Taiwanese teas for over a century.
This winter harvest oolong has gone through a light roasting process, preserving the innate sweetness of the varietal and the sugars that concentrate in tea leaves during winter – the dried tea even smells like kettle corn! This powdery, caramelized quality is well integrated with its warming charcoal notes. We also appreciate this tea for its refined mouthfeel: it yields a rose-tinted, oily looking liquor that presses down softly on the palate as it passes across it.
