Kishu Binchotan

$24

Kishu Binchotan are the highest grade of white charcoal from Japan. They are made from dense ubame oak and fired in Tanabe city of the Wakayama Prefecture.

They are made by burning branches of precious, local ubame oak trees in a kiln at temperatures above 2000 degrees Celsius for several days. At the end of this process, the charcoal is pure carbon, with no impurities left in it. When the firing is complete the pieces of binchotan are cooled rapidly by being smothered in white ash, which is how they get the name “white charcoal.”

Kishu Binchotan is regarded as the highest quality of activated charcoal for purifying water. Pieces of it, regardless of the size, are reusable, recyclable, and free of chemicals and waste. Impressively, they absorb chemicals like chlorine and fluoride in tap water. While purifying the water they release minerals like potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and calcium, significantly increasing its ability to hydrate us.

Only 100 grams of charcoal is needed to purify 1 litre of water, and the most amazing thing is that this amount will be continuously active for 10 to 12 months!

A wonderful thing to use in your water at home, you will marvel at how water purified by it clarifies the taste of tea.
