Handmade, porcelain, gas fired, tianbai "sweet white" glaze
A stunning set of tea cup and saucer in delicate white porcelain. The design of this set is inspired by the simplicity and elegance of the everyday wares in the Song Dynasty that were used in the royal court.
The tea cup boasts a delicate shiny tianbai 甜白 “sweet white” glaze. The intricately thin porcelain saucer adds a flare of sophistication. The purity and simplicity of the cup emphasizes its elegant form and enhances the experience of admiring luscious colors of tea and liquor. The cup's tall and slim form accentuate the experience of enjoying aromas and fragrances of tea.
The tea cup and saucer were painstakingly shaped by hand. The walls are refined and thin, fitting perfectly to the curve of your lips to maximize your enjoyment of tea.
About the artist
Nandao Studio is a small boutique studio in Jingdezhen Prefecture that is dedicated to the crafting and exploration of fine white porcelain in everyday wares.
The building principle of Nandao Studio is the exploration in beauty of forms and subtleties of the natural world—trees, flowers, leaves. Ma Li, the passionate ceramicist who founded Nandao Studio in 2016, aims to express the beauty of nature through his ceramics and everyday wares. “I think the beauty of nature's creations lie in the forms, symmetry, arrangement, and the subtle changes in lines. They are full of wisdom. We should respect nature and learn from it.”
He hopes his ceramic pieces can provide a vehicle for people to immerse themselves in the subtle beauty of nature in daily life.
