Wild Honeybush Black 2018

April 2018

Zhenghe, Fujian

Made by Mr. Fan, nickname Hunter. Mr. Fan accidentally discovered the mountain full of wild and abandoned tea trees in 2009 while hunting for wild boars that were wreaking havoc for local farmers.

This is a wild foraged tea - the leaves are foraged in late spring on the wild mountain, 1000m above sea level, from the native Da Bai (big white) varietal of tea trees. Young stems as well as leaves are picked for this tea, giving this black tea distinct woody notes.

This tea is sweet and woody, with floral aromatics of peonies. It will age beautifully and become even more smooth over time. Tasting notes of sweet jujubes, maple syrup, and sandalwood.
