Chawan No. 38

Chawan by Danny Kostyshin, fired in a soda-fired kiln. Made in Vancouver, BC.

A complex, striking chawan. Soda clay body with feldspar chunks. Feldspar is a group of rock-forming minerals that make up more than 50% of Earth's crust. The outside is heavily textured and feels rugged in the hands. It has an orange shino glaze with white specks resembling snow. The inside is a matte, slightly textured dark grey shino glaze with iron spots.

A medium to larger chawan with a heavier feel in the hands.
