Genmaicha Matcha
We love the comfort of genmaicha, and what the toasty aroma of roasted rice brings to the cool salinity of green tea. Genmaicha is traditionally a blend of "genmai," or toasted rice, and green tea, usually sencha.
This genmaicha powder is a little different. It is made by combining genmai powder with ceremonial grade matcha from Shizuoka and Kagoshima. Made mainly of the yabukita varietal, this high quality matcha gives the genmaicha powder an unusual brightness, intensity, and deep sweetness when combined with the genmai.
As the powder whisks into a bright green foam we are hit with the comforting smell of toasted rice. With milk it makes a very smooth and refreshing drink, offering us a delicious, but still energizing, alternative to straight matcha. You may notice a nostalgic flavour to this drink as well, like rice crackers or breakfast cereal.
